China LiFePO4 price hiking is expected to continue
Per China Lithium Battery Research Daily news on 2025-12-15, the futures price of lithium carbonate has broken through the RMB 100,000 yuan mark, and major producers of lithium iron phosphate are planning to raise prices by RMB 2,000 to 3,000 yuan per ton.
The futures price of lithium carbonate has broken through the 100,000 yuan mark, rising by 1.4% on the day, but the delivery matching price was only 95,760 yuan per ton, with the spot price slightly increasing. Major producers of lithium iron phosphate are planning to raise prices by 2,000 to 3,000 yuan per ton, and the price of metallic lithium has also risen to catch up. Industry insiders predict that the price of lithium carbonate will show a volatile but generally strong trend in the coming days. In November 2025, the output of power and other batteries in China was 176.3 GWh, increasing by 3.3% month-on-month and 49.2% year-on-year. From January to November 2025, the cumulative output of power and other batteries in China was 1,468.8 GWh, with a cumulative year-on-year increase of 51.1%.
In such rapid development of demand, the lithium salt price for battery grade (99.5% min.) is expected to increase to 96.5 k RMB/ton, 4.5% increase per Dec. 9 price level per 1 week change.
Industrial grade lithium carbonate (99.2% min) is also expected to increase to RMB 95.5K/ton, 4.6% increase per Dec. 9 base level.
Other auxiliary materials like Battery-grade lithium hydroxide 56.5% min (coarse particles), Battery-grade lithium hydroxide 56.5% min (fine powder), Industrial-grade lithium hydroxide with a minimum content of 56.5%, Anhydrous lithium chloride 99% min etc are expected to keep the same hiking trend in coming weeks.
In overall the hiking trend of LiFePO4 price will be kept in coming months, per hot market driven by China domestic and export demand till 1st half 2026. Further downward changes are not expected unless sudden major policy or incident triggered by geopolitical risks.
