As most common view in the market the lithium battery of Porsche Canyenne from 2018 to 2023 is quite problematic, car owners have constantly issue of drained battery and can’t ignite the engine with long time parking.

1. The selection of soft pack polymer lithium battery is not correct. With constant big current discharge during driving, the soft pouch cell goes very quickly swollen per frequent charge and discharge. Upon our dismantling of the Porsche battery, we found total 11 pouch cells swollen in total 12 cells, and 1 cell leaking. The single cell capacity reduced from standard 20Ah to 11Ah only, quite significant attenuation.
2. Case material is not right. It is obvious that the battery case is not designed for heat resistance, which may easily cause the battery pack deformed under heat from both internal and externally.
3.BMS design problem. All drivers have problem if battery shutdown, it can’t be restored to normal function, unless to dismantle the case, taking out the IC, and refresh to restore the normal function, which is quite tedious job.
4.If driver can’t start the car due to battery drained, many Porsche owners have to replace the lithium battery by lead acid battery, which is backward of the trend with high cost in daily use.
